Online Club Meeting via Zoom Topic & Speaker: Daizy Maan
Daizy Maan is currently leading Deakin University's startup entrepreneurship initiative SPARK Deakin for over 250 000 students and alumni. The program has funded 51 founders whose 20 startups have generated over $3m in revenue and created 99 jobs. She has served as the youngest Director at Australia's largest publicly listed Bendigo Community Banking company Canterbury Surrey Hills Community Finance from the age 22-26. She is a proud NYSW, MUNA and RYLA alumni and is very fond of the work of Rotary as well as Rotarians. Volunteering and community work has been a core pillar of Daizy's work - she has volunteered with refugees in Thailand at the age of 19 serving as one of the youngest Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development and in Tannzania helping through economic empowerment of small businesses. More locally she was a regular volunteer at Samarinda Lodge, visiting elederly people who feel isolate to provide company and has been awareded Boroondara Young Citizen of the Year in 2015. She is currently writing her first book, a memoir called Quarter Life Crisis - which captures her journey of growing up in rural NSW, navigating the dual identity of being Australian and Punjabi and her mission to empower others.
