If you had attended the recent Rotary Club of North Melbourne's annual Phonse Tobin Volunteer Awards may have met Phonse's brother Des Tobin.
Well though Des has written a book about Phonse's amazing life, he has also crammed more lives into his own 80 years than your average cat. He has variously been a failed student, a discontented panel beater apprentice, a youth worker, a springboard diver, a junior pole-vaulter, a VFL and Olympic Australian Rules footballer, a business executive in the funeral industry, a golfing tragic, a university lecturer and a prolific writer.
Des's signature guest speaker talk - More Lives than your average Cat - is filled with interesting stories, spiked with amusing anecdotes and carries positive and optimistic messages. Venue: | Mercure North Melbourne | Starting: | 6:30 PM | | Thursday 21st March 2019 | Ending: | 8:00 PM |
