The Rainbow Project

We are working with Vanessa Parsons, author of the children’s book ‘The Rainbow Connection’ to spread the word globally on the importance of colour in the world and to promote mental health discussions. Impact for Women - Bags of Love Christmas Event

On the 5th December 2020, some of our members attended Impact for Women to assist with Christmas wrapping in their annual Bags of Love Christmas Event.  Sadly we learned that almost 50 women and children have died at the hands of domestic violence this year - represented by a pair of shoes for each death.     The Southbank club recently pulled together with the North Melbourne Rotary Club to support the Somali Women's Development Association (http://www.swdai.org.au/). Part of this community was locked down in the high rise quarantine affected by Covid-19. President Elect Sally visited the Rotary Club of North Melbourne on 13 June and reports on their guest speakers. Selba Luka was the guest speaker, she is from Afri Aus Care. They are a non-profit organisation that support African youth. Selba brought along 11 or so young men from the basketball club that they founded called the Black Rhinos.
